Truckers Vs. the CSA 2010
So, The CSA 2010 is in full swing, CDL Drivers have their ratings, & are already racking up those CSA points, most without even knowing it! Do you know 6 out of every 10 Drivers I talk to about the CSA don't even know what it is, how it works, or, most importantly, how it affects them! Some have already been disqualified from driving professionally altogether, due to, (illegal, in my opinion) background checks by our Wonderful Federal Government.
I was appalled at the safety meeting I sat in when they had congratulated us on our accomplishment of being in fine such company & called us "aces" because just by virtue of sitting in the room we had already done something right, & that others weren't as Fortunate.
Why was I appalled? Because we had been informed that background checks had been run on all of us, personnel information had been sent to agencies we didn't know about nor authorized. When I asked how this was possible, our safety director had said they were working in conjunction with the CSA & handed them any & all of our information. He said they had every right to as the information was company property for the company to do with what it wanted & when I asked how & why? I got told, like a 3-year-old, you authorized us to do it when you signed your employment application. I'm no lawyer, & I'm sure you can find 100 to agree & I'll find 100 to disagree but I go by the rule of, it something doesn't feel right, it usually isn't.
So, without anyone's consent in an instant, they decided to "run with it" & change how every one of us lives our lives & does our jobs. Now we all have a file somewhere, they used to say in Washington, but now with the new hey you can work from anywhere world we live in, its floating in cyberspace, ready for some lawyer to dig in like a juicy steak at Ruth's Chris or Peter Luger's.
